Floating library

Bringing Knowledge,Help and Hope"

This is the motto of the MVdoulos--the floating library. We went there last Feb.13.It was my first tine to step such place.Of course, at first I was very excited.I woke up early in that morning and went to school early too.During the discussion,I can't concentrate because my mind was already in Doulos. Some of my classmates too, were like me.When we reached our destination(Pier 1),there were few people outside but there were many people inside the Doulos. If I am to describe Doulos, I would say that it is not a very big ship.MV Doulos is only two years younger than Titanic(which was built in 1912) and it was built in 1914.It is also the oldest-sailing ship until today. One thing I like in Doulos is because of its crews. They were just so...nice.Very polite. If you want to know more about MV Doulos, just go to WWW.MVDOULOS.ORG
MV doulos made its last visit here in Cebu from Jan.26 to Feb.19.After many years will it come back And sadly, the ship that will come back soon is not anymore the old ship doulos. The ship will be preserved and will be stopped from sailing. It will be replace by another but newer ship. The crews are voluntary and will be replaced after two years.(it's a pleasure to be one of the crews, isn't it?).I think the crews have two reasons:one is to serve the people and lastly is to sail around the world.
We shopped inside the library and bought the book/s we want. The books were on excellent price. All were discounted. After we shopped,we were asked by the teachers to go to the conference room.
There, in the conference room,we had our lecture. The emcee was Mr.Felipe Boechat from Brazil. He showed us videos about the life there in Doulos and also showed some stolen pictures of the crews.
There were crews who made us guess what their country is.By their accent and by telling us some of their traditions,we guessed their country. They also held games which included the number quiz( Kathleen Abugan was one of the contestants). One game tested the contestants' agility in wearing the required materials. They then explained the purpose of the game.
After showing us some slides and holding games,a Taiwanese woman explained the relationship between human beings and God.She made a demonstration of a cross which symbolizes our being Christians.
After the program ended,we proceeded outside, but, before that we ere given this Book of hope as a souvenir.
However, we ere not alone at the conference room,we were with the students of another school namely the Asian Learning Center(ALC).Of course,It's a very natural phenomenon for students of their respective schools to have a conflict with another students of another school.Fortunately, the conflict did not turn into a war against each school.Everyone talked of his or her own experience in the ship. Most, were grateful that they stepped Doulos.I wonder when the next ship will return here...maybe it will be sooner than what I think.I wish it will return here coz I can't wait to step there again...
So…I think I should end up here ‘na…

On being taught by students

How would you feel when you are being taught by a student—A classmate?
Try to recall what happened in the last “know your school day” activity.
Try to recall what the student principal did, recall what the student clerk did ,what the student faculty members did.
And what the student teachers did...
How does it feel to be taught by a fellow classmate?
I was surprised to know that there were student teachers in all subjects. There were no real teachers that stepped in our room .All were students. But even if all teachers were student, the real teachers did not took a rest. They were making sure that the school is at a good condition.
It is a great feeling to know that all the students want to be teachers.
All of us experienced being taught by a fellow classmate.
We learned after their discussion and they also learned from their own experience of teaching.
Probably, some students realize how important teachers were.
In the morning, there was the giving of Ids to the students to indicate that they are teachers.
Before the bell rings for the first period,I had a mixed feeling.
Mixed feeling of thrill, excitement and a mix feeling of fun.
Thrill because we still don't know who the teacher will be for the period. I was excited because of the fact that they were my classmates.
Fun,because I know that the student teacher can jam with us.
During the discussion or should I say,my classmates, there were laughter in the whole room.
It's sad because some students did not participate in the discussion. Some kept on telling jokes that's why there was laughter. But you know, after the class, the teachers were happy. Some students did listen and some did not.
In short,the classroom was like a supermarket(joke!),no...It was like a mall(another joke!)...it was like a...classroom(that's the fact).

The next day was also the last day for the “ know your school day “ activity.
In the morning,as usual, the clerk rang the bell and the first period took place .As usual, if the section's “student teacher” is still their classmate ,there will still be no silence .The classroom was still like a supermarket. The 2nd period,recess,3rd sub,4th ,lunch,5th,6th,recess and the 7th period took place consequently. The last day was shortened because the time in the afternoon will be used for the closing ceremony. This ceremony includes the giving of the certificates(certificate of participation) to those students who applied as clerk, principal, assistant to the principal, faculty members, and last but not the least, those students who applied as teachers in the different subjects.
Many students were given the certificates. The certificate is very simple yet it has a very big meaning for us students.
It has a sentimental value for us. Just imagine that you will be given a very special paper for a thing you did not sacrifice for,it will only be thrown away, whereas,if it has a sentimental value, even how simple that thing is ,you will still keep it as souvenir.
Now, May I answer the question?
Again,I had mixed feelings at the time.Imagine, you will be taught by a student, some are even younger than you.
The KYSD went well, some got tired and some did not.Well,I hope the nextyears KYSD will be as successful as the KYSD this year....

Childhood best friends

Here's a song for all those people who are best friends:
You're my best friend
(Nelson del Castillo)

Many people say true friends
are hard to find
But I know I'm not that kind
They come and go and
sometimes leave us behind
Like a wind that passes by
Chorus
(Cause)When you need a friend
That you can depend
You can count on me because
you're my best friend
When you're feeling down
And your heart is hurt
You can call on me and
i'll be there for you friend
Good things may come and then
bad things may go
Like a birth a long time ago
You're like the ship that's sailing
across the sea
To the waves that's so unkind

(Repeat Chorus)
(Repeat Chorus) Hold
(Repeat Chorus)

Coda
Friend
I had two best friends.
One is one year younger than me named Kriazl Monique.
One is one year older than me named Janily.
We three are what you call “best friends”.
How did I met them? How did we become friends?

Our mothers were friends, therefore, there daughters should also know each other.
My big sister named Hiede,Janily's big sister named Jovelyn,Monique's big sister named Katrina, were also best friends since they were just child.
Sorry, but I can not tell you how we three met each other and when because I can not remember it again. All I know is that they were my childhood friends or what you call "kababata" in tagalog. We became the best of friends since we were young. When we were still not schooling yet, everyday,we would go to each others house and play their until we will get tired.
When we reach elementary, however,we still wait for each other near the stage. When we ere complete, that's the time when we would do some "chika".Kriazl(we call her Monique) used to revert our names;she would call Janily as Nilijany,me as Salinarose(that is how I got my email-address).In return,we call her Moniquekris.
Before that, we used to call her"kulot".Why? because she really have a curly hair.
She had tried to straighten her hair many times(she envied Janily's and my straight hair hehe...) but it won't.My ate call me "kay-kay"(I don't know what's the reason) maybe because she's fond of eating it and so as them, but in school, however, they call me my real name.
We ere very happy friends ,until we graduated from elementary one by one(starting from Janily,me then lastly Monique) and enrolled to another school in another place.
It's very sad to for us to see one of us three go because we have not yet experienced like that before, but we have to separate ways to move on.Janily enrolled in Abellana, same as monique and me....here.
We are staying in different places that's why we don't see each other always.
I am very thankful to God forgiving me this kind of people. They taught me to how to face life.In them, I learned a lot about life....

Love is in the air...
This February...
This Valentines day...
This love day...
Feel the love everywhere...
Feel the love which fills the air..
Because Cupid is now wandering to haunt for hearts...

How time flies!Lately it was just New years day.
Now,Valentines day is coming
Cupid is now wandering with his arch and bow to haunt your heart...so be extra...extra...careful huh.:)
Valentines day is the time for love.
The time when lovers reminisce their past and those couples which broke up will have the time to start again.
It is also the perfect moment for some people to tell their feelings to someone without making that someone know who he or she is.
This day is also the perfect time to send cards to those close to you and to those person you love.
How will I celebrate my valentines day?
I hope that you will not be offended by my answer, but frankly,I don't celebrate valentines day.
Why? because it's boring.
If I will care or if I love someone,I will show it every time we meet,I will not show it only in Feb. fourteen.
But,of course,valentines day is a special day.
It is your chance to tease someone and be teased in return(joke!).
But well, you always need to remember that you should not go beyond the limits during this day.

We will have no class during this day,I wonder why?...mmm..(what can be the reason?)
Whatever the reason is,I'm still happy because I can rest,I can make many drafts for this blog so that I can comply with the requirements. But even if there will be class during this day, even if the faculty's decision will not be pushed through, there will be no problem with me.
A day before the valentines day, we will have a field trip to MVDoulos.
Well,on valentines day, maybe I should make my entries for the blog.
I will not celebrate because as what I have said,it's boring .Besides,I don't have someone to celebrate with(not like my classmates...).
Some of my classmates agreed with me:that they would not celebrate that day,but of course, some does not.
They even want it.
If cupid struck your heart, you can't say no. You can't demand it.
One of the activities for the valentines day was the “lovapalooza”where couples or soon-to-be-couples
were gathered together to break the record.
I'm sure many couples or soon-to-be-couples were there. In Manila,It was held in the SM Mall of Asia.
For those couples out there....happy valentines day!
I hope you will enjoy the day. It is for you.
On valentines day,I hope that all the couples will enjoy it for it is their time to shine.
So ,well guys,I am running out of English words. All I can say is enjoy this time, this once a year celebration and babbooo....See you next time....bye.
